In the thirteen years since we first learned about moringa we have seen how quickly Moringa can grow, but we were still amazed when we saw this tree just 10 weeks after it was pruned. This one is in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico, it’s growing in sand and gets watered about three times a week.
Take a look at these incredible photos . . .
May 30, 2013 – about 18 feet tall with a few leaves, flowers and seed pods at the top.
Lupe and Rick prune the tree to around 4-1/2 ft tall.
All leaves and flowers are gone, nothing left but the stump.
Aug 9, 2013 – 10 weeks later! The new branches are 7 to 9 feet long. That’s 1-1/4” to 1-1/2” of new growth PER DAY on each branch!
There are 2 to 4 new branches at each cut. The increase in volume of new leaves is huge.
Time to harvest some leaves.
Lupe and Mary Elaina take leaves home to use in their meals.
Washed leaves are stripped from the branches.
Moringa on tacos from our favorite taco stand.
Moringa in scrambled eggs for breakfast. Love the fresh Moringa!
